Long Form – A chat with the Bootstrapped Podcast

Eze Vidra’s a long form chat with the Bootstrap Podcast team, on pitching VCs in a pandemic, founder investor fit and his own journey from product manager to venture capitalist.

Itamar Weisbord and I were introduced in 2008 by a mutual friend. He was the founder of Cellogic, an early stage of an Israeli startup that created a lock screen app (a bit ahead of its time) and I was a senior product manager at Ask.com. We remained friends and caught up regularly on the ups and downs of startup life.

Fast forward, Cellogic became Deeplink.me and Itamar sold his startup to Yahoo! where he now works as Director of product management, leading a team in Israel. So, when he invited me to join him as the first VC guest on the Bootstrapped Podcast with the inimitable Hillel Fuld and serial entrepreneur Guy Malachi, I naturally said yes. It was less of a scripted podcast and more of a free flow conversation (and mutual #Firgun).

An unscripted conversation flows more naturally than a written interview

We didn’t leave many stones unturned. We covered:

  • ? The best way to pitch a VC during the pandemic. Hint: when you’re a hammer, everything looks like a nail, but take the time to research your investors to improve the match.
  • ? How much to de-risk your startup before approaching a VC for funding.
  • ? My journey from PM, to launching and leading Google’s Campus London, to venture capitalist.

I’m not sure I’d recommend subjecting yourself to my voice for an extended period of time, but you can listen to the episode here: https://www.bootstrappod.com/e10-our-first-vc-guest-featuring-eze-vidra-of-remagine-ventures/
