Note(s) to Self

We sometimes send ourselves emails to remind us of something we need to do… but emails get buried, so why not send yourself a Whatsapp message. Turns out that you can!

To really cover productivity tools I would need a much longer post. There are great tools out there from Evernote, to todo apps but I’m sure many of you experienced the need to send yourself a note… it could be an important idea, a todo item or a Wifi password.

When I don’t have pen and paper nearby, I usually send myself an email. I get a lot of email, so those tend to get buried. Occasionally, I send a Whatsapp message to my wife (who then replies with a question mark, since the message wasn’t really intended for her). Notes on the iPhone or Google Keep work too, but I didn’t get into the habit of using it.

So it turns out that you can send Whatsapp messages… to yourself.

Try this out:

  1. Save your name and phone number in your phone’s address book.
  2. Open WhatsApp and go to the Chats tab.
  3. Tap the new chat  icon > More options  > Refresh.
  4. Send yourself the first note…

It could possibly become a new way of journaling… give it a shot.
