A new report by IVC Research center, ranks the most active VC funds in Israel according to their first money investments. Carmel Ventures topped the list with 11 new investments followed by Horizons Ventures. In total, 90 VC funds in Israel made first investments in Israeli startups, but only 19 funds (both Israeli and foreign) made more than three. Fund size didn’t really affect the number of first investments as Accel and Pitango only had 4 first investments each.
Marianna Shapira, IVC’s Research Manager, said:
“Israeli and foreign venture capital fund activity clearly demonstrate that the market is thriving and filled with players. At the same time, most first investments in the last year were relatively small. This reflects a certain caution that investors are applying in their activity, trying to fully assess a company’s potential before committing substantial funds.”
