Interesting addition from the Wibiya team came through my inbox today. Wibiya , the customizable web toolbar for publishers added a monetization widget through affiliate links provided by Kehalim, a contextual affiliate platform based in Israel.
Kehalim’s Express Affiliate Links widget automatically puts affiliate codes on the blog links, without impacting the user experience. Kehalim inventory of affiliate links is offered through a partnership with most top affiliate networks including Commission Junction, Amazon Associates, Linkshare, AdsMarket and others. As a result, the widget offers decent coverage with more than 25, 000 merchants.
A quick review of the terms shows that Kehalim will pay 70% of the affiliate revenue generated through your site’s links. Similar to Adsense, payments are accumulated until the site reaches $100 in revenue, and are paid 30 days after the end of each calendar month. The legal blurb (TOS link) also seems to be a bit concerned about click fraud and bots:
Unless otherwise agreed to by the parties in writing, Kehalim will deduct a revenue share of thirty (30) percent from payments due to you. Notwithstanding the foregoing, Kehalim shall not be liable for any payment based on: (a) any amounts which result from invalid Referral Events, or invalid clicks or impressions on Ads generated by any person, bot, automated program or similar device, as reasonably determined by Kehalim, including without limitation through any clicks or impressions (i) originating from Your IP addresses or computers under Your control, (ii) solicited by payment of money, false representation, or request for end users to click on Ads and/or complete Referral Events; (b) Ads delivered to end users whose browsers have JavaScript disabled; (c) Ads benefiting charitable organizations and other placeholder or transparent Ads that Kehalim may deliver; or (d) Referral Events co-mingled with a significant number of invalid Referral Events described in (a) above, or as a result of any breach of this Agreement by You for any applicable pay period.
Overall, this is a great win-win-win: great distribution for Kehalim, a new promising revenue stream for Wibiya and an added value for publishers, who can now get a hassle-free monetization of their outgoing links. To date, Wibiya secured a $2 million round from Primera Capital (April 2010) as well as an angel investment by Dr. Yossi Vardi.
